Slow Stitching

The art of slow stitching is currently taking the devoted stitchers of the world by storm! The art of slow stitching is taking a piece of cloth, any cloth, and a needle and thread and just stitching! Take your needle for a walk! It is the art of slowing down, creating something beautiful, by hand. Letting the worries of the day just drift away. I find it meditative, absorbing and completely addictive.

Any sort of stitch can be done, from the simple to the most elaborate. That said, you don’t have to be and expert embroiderer to do this, in fact some of the most beautiful pieces are just done with running stitch. I use a lot of running stitch, plus French knots, blanket and chain stitch. I find with this I can create something beautiful and unique.
